Halfway Through a Great Year

It is hard to believe we are halfway through the school year. This certainly has been a year like no other. Covid-19, restrictions and new guidelines set have required quite a few adjustments to our normal day-to-day. We have had to make changes as we go, stay flexible with our plans and think out of the box more this year than any other year. The staff, families and the children have gone in stride with all of the changes and we could not be more thankful for that.

Our classrooms look different this year. We revamped the “big room” from what was our play area and made it into two new classrooms. This allowed us to have smaller class size ratios. This has worked in our favor and allowed for more one-on-one instruction. Our class parties look different. We used to fill the rooms with the children and their parents or special visitors and celebrated the holidays together. This year, our fall festival turned into a “trick-or-treat” in our parking lot where the kids dressed in their costumes & families lined the parking lot and passed out candy. We had our JCP 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Balloon Parade outside for families to see. Our Thanksgiving Program was shown live on Zoom and recorded for future viewing. We are looking into ways to make future parties, field trips and celebrations with families possible and still be within recommended guidelines.

Our students and their families become our families each year. We look forward to celebrating together when milestones are reached. Our conferences are normally a time we can get together and discuss accomplishments, progress made and set goals. This year, thanks to the weather, our conferences were done mostly over the phone. It was not ideal, but we were still thankful for the opportunity to discuss our students and how far they have come. In a time of so much uncertainty, these children are still thriving and doing so well and we could not be prouder.

We are beyond grateful for the love and support our JCP families show. They have been patient and understanding with us as we navigate through the year and have had to make changes. We are blessed with the opportunity to spend each day with these amazing children and prepare them for kindergarten and teach them about the love of God.

Blessings,
